Program Description and Objectives

Life is a story or for some a game, and our endings matter. How do you remember the end of a game? By the final score, the last few plays or the fun of the game? In his documentary, Dr. Atul Gawande confronts the reality of mortality and challenges one to think about the story of human decline, denial of aging, and the fear of death and disability that comes with end-of-life decisions. Have a full breakfast with us and join in a discussion with Keith Stirewalt, Wake Forest Baptist Chaplain for Clinical Engagement. Our attitudes of culture, roles and values of dying in America with the medical profession will be discussed.

Upon completion of this program, participants will be able to:

• Identify multifaceted issues related to end-of-life care.
• Explore end-of-life case studies as they relate to the aging process.
• Discuss community resources available to professionals for referral.
